Vehicle Transfer Process for the Costa Blanca,Costa Calida
Buying and Selling a second hand vehicle in Spain is not a difficult or lengthy process if you have the professional help of Tom and Amanda from VIC (VEHICLE INFORMATION CHECK).
Once you have decided to buy a Spanish registered vehicle in Spain, please contact Tom or Amanda with the registration number so that the necessary check can be made on the vehicle. A price can then also be calculated for the transfer process.
The “live” information from the trafico office will be obtained usually within 24 hours and this can then be faxed, scanned and sent by email or collected from the office or designated meeting place.
If the car is “clean” and you decide to proceed, you will be required to hold certain legal paperwork for the transfer process such as Original passport, Notary copy or Spanish residencia card, Original Green residencia certificate or Original NIE certificate, Padron certificate or Title deeds for property or current electricity bill to confirm an address in Spain.
You will also require the Spanish car documents PERMISO DE CIRCULACION and TARJETA DE INSPECCION TECNICA, copy of sellers passport and NIE certificate, Receipt for purchase/sale and the current road tax(IVTM).
If you are missing any of the above documents, please contact either Tom or Amanda for advice as duplicates can be obtained. It may be that there is some road tax outstanding and this will need for Amanda or Tom to speak with the Spanish authorities to negotiate direct payment to the town hall involved.
The legal paperwork is handled personally by Amanda and Tom on your behalf and we are proud to say that we do not use any other third party companies for this.
All documentation including the new owners PERMISO will be returned to you usually within 24 hours.
It is important to let us know if you intend to leave Spain whilst the paperwork is in process so that we can make the necessary arrangements whilst you are away.
